Model United Nations Conference, 2024
Model United Nations (MUN) is an educational simulation in which students model the workings of the United Nations and Indian Political System. Participants, often referred to as delegates, represent countries or portfolios and engage in debates on global issues. They work on crafting resolutions and negotiating with other delegates to address various challenges. MUN aims to enhance understanding of international relations, develop public speaking skills, and foster diplomatic and critical thinking abilities. Participants research their assigned portfolio’s position, draft resolutions, and collaborate with others to address pressing international problems. MUN enhances students' abilities to negotiate, collaborate, and advocate for solutions to pressing global challenges. It fosters cultural awareness and empathy as participants explore diverse perspectives and interests, while also cultivating leadership and confidence. Overall, MUN equips students with practical knowledge and skills that are valuable both in academic settings and in their future careers.

AGENDA: EDUCATION AND CAPACITY BUILDING FOR DIGITAL TRANSFORMATION TOWARDS SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT
The United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) is a key body within the United Nations, where all 193 member states convene annually to discuss and coordinate on a range of global issues, including peace and security, human rights, and development. The General Assembly exercises deliberative, supervisory, financial, and elective functions relating to any matter within the scope of the UN Charter. Its primary role, however, is to discuss issues and make recommendations, though it has no power to enforce its resolutions or compel state action. The United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) has increasingly recognized the importance of digital transformation in achieving sustainable development goals (SDGs). Key aspects include education, capacity building, policy and governance and global collaboration.
AGENDA: CYBERSECURITY AND ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION
The United Nations Security Council (UNSC) is a United Nations (UN) organ that's responsible for maintaining international peace and security. Composed of 15 members, including five permanent members with veto power (the United States, Russia, China, France, and the United Kingdom), the UNSC has the authority to make binding decisions, impose sanctions, and authorize military action. Its primary functions include addressing conflicts, preventing escalation, and facilitating peaceful resolutions, making it a pivotal institution in global diplomacy and security. The United Nations Security Council (UNSC) has increasingly recognized the importance of cybersecurity and environmental protection in maintaining global peace and security. The UNSC has begun addressing cyber threats due to their potential to destabilize nations and disrupt critical infrastructure. Similarly, environmental issues, such as climate change and natural resource management, have been linked to security concerns, including conflicts over resources and displacement caused by environmental disasters. The UNSC’s role in these areas involves facilitating international cooperation, setting norms, and encouraging member states to integrate cybersecurity and environmental considerations into their national security strategies.
AGENDA: AI AND SURVEILLANCE TECHNOLOGY- THREAT TO HUMAN RIGHTS
The United Nations Human Rights Council (UNHRC) is a United Nations body that promotes and protects human rights around the world. Its main purpose is addressing situations of human rights violations and making recommendations on them. The UNHRC addresses human rights violations, offers recommendations, and oversees the implementation of international human rights standards. It conducts reviews of member states' human rights records, responds to crises, and engages in dialogue to advance human rights globally, aiming to address pressing issues such as discrimination, inequality, and abuses.
AGENDA: SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT AND RENEWABLE ENERGY
The All India Political Parties Meet is a forum for discussion and deliberation that is being called before the session of the parliament takes place. Here delegates delve into the nuances and intricacies of modern-day Indian politics with its caveats. With members from both houses of the parliament present, the AIPPM strives to encourage deliberation on discourses surrounding socio-economic and geopolitical issues. Indian political parties generally emphasize sustainable development and renewable energy as crucial components of their policy platforms. Major parties advocate for increased investment in renewable energy sources like solar and wind power to ensure energy security and reduce carbon emissions. They support policies aimed at promoting green technologies, improving energy efficiency, and addressing climate change. However, the extent and focus of their commitment can vary, with each party tailoring its approach to align with its broader economic and environmental agendas.
Students will participate in a simulation involving IP members, acting as unbiased journalists and photographers reporting on conference proceedings. They investigate committee debates, conduct interviews, edit articles, and cover press conferences. They observe simulations and disseminate information to all AUMUN participants. IP members must conduct background research, gather relevant information, and conduct live interviews. Photos taken by IP members will only be used for report submissions and compilation of AUMUN International materials .
