The four-year undergraduate professional course, Integrated Special Education Teacher Education Programme [ISITEP-Intellectual Disability at the Secondary Stage], offered at Apex University, will focus on the training of proficient and competent special educators for facilitating the learning of students with intellectual disabilities at the secondary school level.
This course combines foundational education with subject pedagogy, special education practices, assessment techniques, inclusive education strategies, and extensive fieldwork in a manner consistent with RCI norms. This course stresses hands-on learning through internships based in schools, practical training, and community involvement. Graduates of this course would be thus trained to meet the diverse educational, behavioral, and developmental needs of intellectually disabled learners in both inclusive and special school settings.

The ISITEP (ID) – The ISITEP (ID) – Integrated Special Education Teacher Education Programme (Intellectual Disability, Secondary Stage) balances foundational knowledge with practical training in a school environment. The program aims to equip students for professional teaching careers in special and inclusive education environments. The practical training in classroom teaching, assessment, and intervention methods provides learners with the necessary skills to handle intellectual disability students as well as enable them to advance professionally and academically.
Resource Teacher / Inclusion Facilitator:
Coordinates support services, assists classroom teachers, and facilitates effective inclusion and individualized education planning.
Special School Teacher:
Works in special education schools, delivering structured teaching and individualized educational programmes for students with intellectual disabilities.
Inclusive School Teacher:
Supports inclusive classroom practices by adapting curriculum and teaching strategies for learners with intellectual disabilities.
Special Educator (Secondary Level):
Provides specialized instruction and academic support to students with intellectual disabilities at the secondary education level.
