The Diploma in Education (D.Ed.) – Visual Impairment at Apex University, aligned with the
norms of the Rehabilitation Council of India (RCI), prepares qualified educators to work
effectively with children and persons with visual impairment. The programme emphasizes
Braille literacy, use of assistive and adaptive devices, orientation and mobility (O&M)
training, and inclusive educational practices.
The curriculum integrates theory with supervised practical training, including internships in
RCI-recognized special schools and rehabilitation centres. Strong focus is placed on
Individualized Education Programmes (IEPs) and functional assessment to ensure
personalized learning support. Graduates are equipped to serve as Special Educators (Visual
Impairment), Braille Instructors, and Rehabilitation Support Professionals in educational
and rehabilitation settings.
Passed in 10+2 or its equivalent examination in any stream conducted by a recognized Board / University /Council. Obtained at least 60% for all category.
